ABOUT D.S. Randen

Randen is the author of the Derek Shaw series. He writes crime fiction thrillers. His novels are heavily influenced by current social issues and concerns.

He grew up in Newton Kansas and still resides there. This small town was a partial inspiration for his Derek Shaw series. Though the series’ setting of Chisholm is fictional, many of the places described are real.

Randen received his masters degree in sociology from Wichita State University. Prior to becoming a writer, he taught sociology at Hutchinson Community College. His passion for sociology has greatly influenced the development of his Derek Shaw series and several other stories.
